Program Overview
New Zealand's Active Investor Plus visa is the country's premium residency pathway for high-net-worth individuals who want to invest in and contribute to New Zealand's economy. Introduced in 2023 as a replacement for the previous Investor 1 and Investor 2 categories, the Active Investor Plus programme places a strong emphasis on active, growth-oriented investment rather than passive capital placement.

Investors who place capital in direct investments (unlisted equities, managed funds investing in NZ companies) receive a multiplier that reduces the effective minimum, while lower-risk investments such as listed equities require the full NZD 5 million. After five years of holding the visa, investors become eligible for New Zealand permanent residency and, subsequently, citizenship.
