Critical Skills Employment Permit

Ireland

Program Overview

Ireland's Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP) is the country's flagship work permit for highly skilled professionals in occupations where Ireland faces significant talent shortages. It is the fastest and most direct route to Irish residency for qualified professionals, offering a two-year permit that can be renewed and leads to permanent residency after five years — and Irish citizenship, including an EU passport, shortly thereafter.

Ireland is home to the European headquarters of many of the world's largest technology companies — Google, Meta, Apple, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Twitter, and dozens more — making Dublin one of Europe's most dynamic technology employment markets. The country's 12.5% corporate tax rate, English-speaking environment, common law legal system, and membership of both the EU and the Eurozone make it uniquely attractive to international businesses and the professionals who work for them.

The Critical Skills Employment Permit is employer-sponsored, meaning applicants must have a job offer from an Irish employer in a qualifying occupation. However, once the permit is granted, holders have a clear and well-established pathway to permanent residency and citizenship, with the added benefit of unique dual access to both the EU single market and the United Kingdom under the Common Travel Area agreement.
