Program Overview

The Barbados Welcome Stamp is one of the world's original and most established digital nomad visas, launched in July 2020 as a direct response to the global shift toward remote work. It allows location-independent workers, freelancers, and entrepreneurs to live and work from Barbados for up to 12 months, with the option to renew for a further 12 months.

Barbados is widely regarded as the most sophisticated and well-governed island in the Eastern Caribbean. It offers a stable parliamentary democracy, English as its official language, reliable high-speed internet infrastructure, and a mature financial services sector. The island's west and south coasts are home to a thriving community of international residents, boutique hotels, co-working spaces, and a restaurant scene that punches well above its size.

The Welcome Stamp is not a residency permit and does not lead to permanent residency or citizenship, but it is one of the most practical and affordable ways for remote professionals to experience Caribbean island living without committing to a full relocation. The application fee of USD 2,000 per individual (USD 3,000 for a family) covers the full 12-month period and is processed entirely online, typically within 5 to 10 business days.
